What a book! An amazing tale of the Vietnam era in a small town in Northern Michigan! Mr. Chagnon hit a home run with his latest novel. In his trilogy of novels, he certainly saved the best for last. The Dregs of Presque Isle and The Ghosts of Presque Isle were great, but his last….The Soldiers of Presque Isle put the frosting on the cake! With so many twists and turns, it will keep you on edge of your seat right up to the shocking and fascinating conclusion. The 1960s was a great decade and Mr. Chagnon put the exclamation mark on it. A must read for anyone who grew up in that era!

Great characters, surprising ending. Treats the Vietnam chapters with tremendous care. A great deal of non fiction adds to the quality of the experiences in this period.
